Katherine Staden, Senior Associate
Katherine Staden is a Senior Associate at Cowan & Associates, Inc. (C&A) supporting the Director of Navy Staff (DNS-15) in the Department of the Navy Forms Program.
Prior to joining C&A, Katherine worked as a defense contractor in support of the Department of the Navy Assistant for Administration Directives and Records Management Division (DON/AA DRMD) as the Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Directives Analyst. As a recognized subject matter expert, she represented the DON/AA DRMD Directives Program to Secretariat-level offices and facilitated the finalization and clearance of SECNAV directives through direct client consultation, document review, and coordination among appropriate stakeholders. She routinely drew information from complex and diverse sources to advise clients on current policy and standards.
Katherine previously worked for the South Carolina Bar as the Government Affairs Coordinator, acting as legislative liaison to shape policy beneficial to the administration of justice. She coordinated with legislatively active practice areas, assisting in the drafting and guidance of proposed legislation. In addition to her legislative function, Katherine served as liaison to the Judicial Qualifications Committee and assisted in executing the biannual qualifications screening to evaluate candidates for selection to the South Carolina Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Circuit Court, Family Court, and Administrative Law Court.
Katherine earned her Masters of Public Administration (MPA) with concentrations in State and Local Administration and Policy and Management, as well as a BA in Political Science with a minor in International Development from American University in Washington D.C.
